Corona Virus Covid-19 Small Business Relief Fund:

It feels as though history is repeating itself. The news reports that large corporations were given the money first and now the Small Business Relief Fund has run out of money. (According to national standards, any company that employs 500 or fewer employees are considered small businesses.) Listen to my audio story below and you will see why I say history is repeating itself.

Balance

The wind’s direction can change at any time without notice.

Walk lightly, but always maintain your balance. By standing firm, you know that you are now prepared to withstand the shaky ground or storm that will eventually come your way.

It turned out that I never received the $150,000. reimbursement funds dedicated to building another salon as I was promised by Metro. I was told that they ran out of funds that were dedicated to the Small Business Relief Fund. Does this sound familiar?

But for this time around I have learned my lesson. I choose not to concentrate on things I have no control over… instead, I want to think about things that I can do to make a difference. If I adopt this attitude, and only after I’m able to think out of the box, I know that a window will open up and my creativity and resourcefulness will kick in. This is the way to keep my power within me…not to weaken my power by giving it away to outside sources. Now, take action!

I was happy when mother told me that we will be leaving Japan to travel to the US to spend the summer with my Grandmother. It was exciting for me to be in a new country where I met my Grandmother and my cousins. Then mother told me that we will not be returning to Japan. US is my new home. She told me to forget about Japan and study hard to learn to speak the English language. I was devastated and felt deceived by my own mother.

Happiness is an attitude. Youmake a choice as to whether a sense of joyfulness or doom and gloom will surround you each day.

YOUR TASK – Empower yourself and turn every day into a happy day.

YOUR AHA! MOMENT – It’s like magic! When you are happy, the people you touch are happy too!

The question, “What Makes Me Happy” seems so easy to answer but it really takes deep soul searching to bring it to the surface. Once you are able to articulate them, It’s important to document your findings by writing them down. Consider this a work in progress that will need periodic updating.

Friendship

Always walk while holding hands, just like you did in kindergarden.

Reach out to your friends. You receive an equal amount of responses from both your friends and your acquaintances. When that happens, it will demonstrate how powerful connections can be established with sincere and random acts of thoughtfulness.

It’s been a while since I last saw my photographer friend, Eugene. We worked on a couple of projects and I respected his photography skills plus I’ve enjoyed our time together. Two weeks ago, I received a surprise email from Eugene with two videos embedded on the page. Thank you Eugene, I am sharing these videos for people to enjoy!

This video is from the residents of Aegis Assisted Living in Mercer Island. You can tell for sure that their friendships are strong.

The only way something gets done is when it gets counted. I read this statement in a book a long time ago, and it stuck into my head all these years.

Score

Anything that gets counted is more likely to be completed.

Try keeping score on everyday things you take for granted. If your score does not improve over time, it’s time to make adjustments. You will never feel lost in life if you know where you came from, where you are, and how much further you want to go.

Meet Marisa Cummings

I shared with you my admiration for Marisa Cummings, an artist and a business owner of a company called “CREATIVE THURSDAY”. She is offering creative facial masks made from fabrics that she designed. Can you guess which two masks I ordered?

“I’ve put together a collection of 8 favorite designs to start. Who knows how long masks will be a new fashion trend? but I intend to continue to infuse joy in as many places as I can.”

It’s hard to know how long this opportunity will be available, so be sure to get your mask right away. Lifelong learning in small incremental steps will keep you growing your whole life. At a certain point, you will start teaching what you learned.

Reviewing what you have learned and learning anew, you are fit to be a teacher. – Confuscius-

What you know today is not enough to keep you on top in this fast-moving world. Try this. Pick up any item you own and then look at it again tomorrow. How old is it and will it still be relevant in the days to come? Keep learning, try new things, and watch yourself grow. YOUR AHA! MOMENT … You find that the more you learn, the more you know. You will want to continue learning even more!

My Daily Practice

For the past year, I’ve been spending 15-30 minutes daily to draw and paint in my art journals. I made a Time-Lapse video of my art journals for you. By the way, making a time-lapse video using your iPhone is quite simple. I put it all together in a program called Animoto. I’m taking advantage of this downtime to learn new technology skills.
