Happiness: 30 Day Abundance, Day 23
Let’s study the word Happiness.

I created a fun worksheet for you. You can get it here.
Happiness is an attitude. Youmake a choice as to whether a sense of joyfulness or doom and gloom will surround you each day.
YOUR TASK – Empower yourself and turn every day into a happy day.
YOUR AHA! MOMENT – It’s like magic! When you are happy, the people you touch are happy too!

The question, “What Makes Me Happy” seems so easy to answer but it really takes deep soul searching to bring it to the surface. Once you are able to articulate them, It’s important to document your findings by writing them down. Consider this a work in progress that will need periodic updating.
I love to hear from you. When you share your ideas and thoughts, it gives me the fuel to come up with more content to share with you.
Here’s how to see the back issues:

Hi Kay,
” Happy ” , thank you to bring up how you have feel being happy depending on how other are happy. I was feeling the same way too.
You are right that we cannot depend on others to make us happy.
Thank you for sharing your insight on ” happy “.
For me , a good night sleep makes me happy and living in the moment makes me happy .
Alice
Yes, let’s keep living each day infused with gratitude.
Thank you, Kay – once again! This is one of your best! Very thought-provoking.
Hi Sue, we are women who tend to take on lots of responsibilities… we tend to forget about ourselves. We must try harder to keep our own glasses filled with self-love.
Dear Kay,
I have explored happiness, like you, from many angles, at many times in my life. I have written gratitude journals for several decades, and they are a source of happiness. I have learned to value time alone to reflect and just experience what I’m feeling. In recent years, I’ve not been able to find much of that kind of time, but I found that long flights were a good time for reflection so I enjoy doing that as I’m traveling to a new location.
Of course now, with COVID-19, I have no idea when my next flight will be. I have my fresh new journal for this year, but I haven’t written much there yet. I always liked to journal while having a cup of chai at a local cafe. Can’t do that now either. I have to accustom myself to journaling at home without getting distracted by all the undone things in the house that are a source of “unhappiness.”
A few years ago, my daughter and son-in-law were reading the “Happiness Project” by Gretchen Rubin, and they got me a copy (or maybe I bought it myself). https://gretchenrubin.com/books/the-happiness-project/about-the-book/. I enjoyed her rather more analytical, research orientation to happiness. It was humorous and sometimes poignant. Quite different from the path to gratitude I learned to experience through Jodo Shinshu Buddhism.
It meant a lot this morning to hear you share your experience of finding happiness beyond the happiness of others around you.
Arigato!
Michele, you and I both have lots of responsibilities and it’s difficult to reflect on what makes each one of us happy. I think we need to free up our responsibilities (for a moment) so we can work on our own happiness.
